Parks in Garrett Park

Cambria Park

Cambria Park is located at the intersection of Cambria Avenue and Keswick Street in Garrett Park.  It's the Town's most active recreation area with the Garrett Park Swimming Pool and the following facilities: a small, multi-use ball field next to the swimming pool; 1.5 acres of wooded open space; a shaded playground between Keswick St. and Cambria Woods with play equipment suitable for small children, and a dog run. A
barbecue grill and one picnic table are available on the north side. Use of the ball field is first come, first served.

Garrett-Waverly Park


Located adjacent to Penn Place this park often serves as a village green for the Town during special events or on holidays such as the Fourth of July. A concrete basketball court is located at the rear of the park and two regulation tennis courts maintained by the County are located at the corner of Waverly Avenue and Montrose Roads. About a quarter of the overall park area is owned by the Town, the remainder by Montgomery County.  Pursuant to an agreement with the County, the Town performs routine maintenance for the park as a whole, while the County undertakes major maintenance and capital improvements. The tennis courts are first come, first served.

Porcupine Woods

Located between Clermont Ave. and Penn Place, Porcupine Woods is the Town's largest area of open space, with a pathway that provides a restful shortcut through a heavily-wooded 2.5 acre preserve for walkers on their way to or from the Post Office, the MARC station, Penn Place, or simply taking a stroll through Town.

Wells Park

635949572953230000Wells Park is a Montgomery County Park that lies between the railroad tracks and Rokeby Avenue opposite Argyle Ave. The park contains approximately 1.5 acres of heavily wooded open space and a playground with equipment suitable for small children, this playground nestles in a clearing on the northern side of the Park.

Manny's Woods

Located at 4421 Cambria Ave. (Beside Cambria Dog Park), this is a small, landscaped area, maintained as a memorial to Manny Flanders Sullivan, a long-time active Town resident, who died in 2003.

Memorial Grove

The Memorial Grove is located at the intersection of Montrose & Waverly Avenues on the Garrett-Waverly Park side. A number of trees have been planted here in memory of Town residents.

Montgomery County Parks near Garrett Park

Druid Drive Neighborhood Park at 5004 Druid Drive in Garrett Park Estates is a small neighborhood playground, a short walk from Garrett Park, with a playground and picnic area.

White Flint Neighborhood Park at 11605 Rokeby Avenue in White Flint Estates adjacent to the former White Flint Mall has a playground, tennis courts, and a multi-use field.

Garrett Park Elementary School at 4810 Oxford Street has 2 ball fields, one with a softball diamond.

Ken-Gar Palisades Park at 4140 Wexford Drive, east of Garrett Park on Beach Drive is a 20.2-acre park that features a playground, softball field, baseball field, multi-use field and tennis courts. There is also a recreation building available for rent. The park is a regular training site of the largest running club in the area, the Montgomery County Road Runners Club.

Rock Creek Trail borders Garrett Park on the east and continues south to Washington D.C. This is one of the most popular trails in the metropolitan area. It offers hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, and playgrounds.
